Overall project evaluation:
Now that i have completed my project for photography unit 2, i can say that i have enjoyed the project and defiantly seen a improvement in my photography skills. The topic that i chose for this unit was evidence, i found this topic to hold a lot of freedom and i felt that i could explore many different areas. I feel that by choosing this topic i have been able to demonstrate a development in my skills.
As the topic began, my initial response was to take the idea of evidence literally, and attempt to photograph actual evidence of things such as human presence and nature. After many chats with Paul i began to think more about the idea of evidence and the routes i could take it. I still included the previous ideas into my work but began to look at them through subjects such as vandalism and street signs. In doing this i photographing literal evidences that could show these thing, i included my knowledge from unit 1 when doing this and often consider the use of colour and tone in many of my photos.
The further i got into the project the more comfortable with the idea i got, and i found myself thinking of more ideas to take my project. One of my favourite things from this project was my shoot in London, i found that during this shoot i could photography many different scenes and buildings and they would fit into my project. I also think that during this topic my use of composition in photography improved. This was evidence in this shoot but also in the studio. Another aspect of evidence i looked at was emotions through studio photography. In this shoot i kept a relaxed setting a aim to show a true representation of as many emotions that was possible. Composition in this shoot became key as i felt i had to get the framing right in the photo to make it really work.
One thing that i think i should have considered more in this project is studio work. While i feel that all of my location shoots were relevant to the topic and do show some improvements to my photography, i feel that the use of the studio is lacking. I think that if i had thought about it more and chosen to include more studio shoots i could have been able to show some more diversity in my project and would have been able to take a different spin on the idea of evidence.
Overall i am happy with my end result in this project. I feel that my work shows a improvement in my photography skills and editing skills. One thing that i feel has seen a big improvement is my use of composition as i feel i am more considerate about what actually goes into my photo and how it is styled. If i was to take this project further i would of liked to included more studio work to show a improvement in both location and studio shoots. I would also think about my shoots more and aim to be more creative with my ideas for both shoots and edits.

fashion shoot shoot 10 - work diary
Fashion shoot - work diary:
In today's shoot i decided to do a shoot at home and go to field by my house and photograph fashion using my own personal items. In this shoot I attempted to evidence different styles and used different clothes and poses to try and do so. I found that this shoot went well as i am happy with how the images came out and believe that i was able to produce some of my best images. I feel that the shoot fits in with my topic, but moves away from some of my previous shoots. The connection to evidence is still there but i have been able to show some diverse in my photos while sticking to evidence.

I feel that the shoot fits in with my topic, but moves away from some of my previous shoots. The connection to evidence is still there but i have been able to show some diverse in my photos while sticking to evidence.
The image above is an example from my shoot. In the image i have positioned the model in the middle of the frame so that the she becomes the main focus of the image. The trees in the background give an atmosphere to the image and fills the frame. The use of tone in this image allows the hat in the image to standout. This is one of the ways i attempted to show fashion in this shoot and i think it was effective as the fashion item clearly stands out.
The image above the main fashion item stands out more than the model, in doing this the idea of fashion becomes more important than the actual person in the image. The use of tone in this image helps the shall to standout as the different colours in it become different shades of grey white and black. By placing my model where i did, i was able to take a different approach to the fashion shoot by have have in a more relaxed pose with the shall around her as it normally would be in a everyday way. By doing this the use of the clothing doesn't actually specify what the shoot is for but the clothes still standout.
Progression:
This shoot has helped me to develop my composition and consider my use of the formal element tone. From this shoot i have seen i need to be more considerate of the backgrounds of my images as i found that some of the photos had elements in them that spoiled the whole photo. In future shoots i am going to be considerate of this to create images to the best of my ability.

Work diary - London shoot
For this shoot i decided to go to London during my own time so I could photograph many the tourist attractions and see what evidences i could find. I enjoyed doing this shoot as i found that there was also something for me to photograph wherever i went. I found the whole shoot to be relaxed and gave me freedom to choose what i wanted to take photos of. I found that i had photographed many images that would fit into my project, and when looking at my straight images from the shoot i am very happy with how they came out.

These two images are examples from my shoot. The one above shows the London eye, one of the main tourist attractions. In this image there is no presence of humans and the shot is simple and just focuses on the eye. The eye itself shows use of shape and structure i the eye, and shows evidence of something being man made. The image below is of the national gallery and in the image shows that its a popular tourist attraction. In the image there is a clear view of the gallery and shows the shape and structure of the building.
Progression:
This shoot moved me away from the use of vandalism and signs, topics that i has previously focused on. In the next few sessions i am going to focus on some new topics such as fashion to show how different looks can change a persons appearance. This shoot has helped to focus on composition which is something that i will tae not consideration in my next shoot. It has made me think more throughly about the composition of my images what i want to actually be in my image.

Connecting essay 5:
In the image below a emotions is being shown through studio photography. In the image the use of composition has placed the model to the side of the frame instead of the middle. The model is also sitting at an angle with their body not directly facing the camera, however they have pointed their face directly at the camera and is looking straight into the lens. The model in the photo isn't actually portraying a emotion but looking at the camera with a emotionless face helps to draw in attention, and makes a person look into the photo to question if theres a deeper meaning and wonder what that person is actually feeling. The use of tone in this image also helps to keep the hidden emotion a mystery as the use of colour could help reveal it.

In the image below studio emotions is also being shown. In the image the empty black background allows the model in the photo to stand out more. The compostition in the image has positioned Scarlett to the side of the far but has still kept her as the main focus of the image. The fact her face isn't looking at the camera gives the image a more relaxed setting as well has keeping the emotion hidden and only known by the model.
In both of the images the use of composition has all for the model to look clearly positioned in the image as well as make the image feel relaxed. In both of the images the photo has been taken at a time that the model hasn't necessarily noticed. This relaxed setting gives a true representation of a emotion in photography and could possibly capture multiple different emotions in one shoot as the model could have freedom to control how they feel about things. By not using bright vibrant colours of just using tone, the images are able to appear subtle enough to go along with emotion and don't take away any of the focus.

Connecting essay 4:
In the image below the photographer has captured the bridge in Camden. The use of composition has allowed the photographer to include the busy street and all the people and cars that go through it as well as showing the lock. In the photo the bright colours of the bridge stand out and help to draw in attention. The composition of the photo being at a slight angle helps to capture the full length of the bridge as well as includes the busy streets of Camden which helps to create a true representation of the streets of Camden.
In both of the images the use of composition is effective yet for different reasons. Its effective in the first image as it explores the busy streets of Camden as well as shows a clear image of the bridge which is what the image focus's on. Its effective in the second image as it helps to give a overview of Camden as well as to aid the use of the formal element form. The use of colour in the first image helps to give a bright vibrant feel to Camden which goes along side with the busy streets and helps to give a creative feel to the place. In the second image the use of tone allows you to focus more on the buildings and whats actually in the photo. In this image the scene of Camden looks more dated than in the one above.

In the image below the same scene has been photographed except this time the image is taken from a further back angle, and is therefore including more of the scene beside the bridge. In this image the wider frame includes more of the street and explores the width. In the image you can see exactly what is going on in the street yet you can see more of the structure of the buildings and the bridge. The use of tone in this image allows the structure of many of the different parts of the image stand out for example the tone allows the two buildings to stand out more helping them to develop form, yet the tone doesn't let the bridge go unnoticed.

Connecting essay 3
Connecting essay 3:
In the image above a rose has been photographed with water droplets on it. The image is photographed close up to clearly show the water on the flower as well as to show the different parts of the flower. The image is photographed against a black background and is in the corner of the frame showing that the composition has been considered here. The black background helps the while flower to stand out more and to make sure that the water droplets are still visible.
In the image above a white flower is also photographed with water droplets on. In this image the flower is in the middle of the frame and is therefore the first thing that grabs your attention when looking at the image. In this image the flower is photographed in the bush that it was found in and is therefore not the only element in the image. By including the area the flower is found in the image is able to show what the flower looks like in its natural setting.
The main connection between the two images is the white flower with the water droplets on. The white flower in both stands out and is the first thing that is noticed. The differences in these images is that in the first image the background is black meaning the flower is just sitting on a empty background. While in the second image the flower comfortable sits in a background that compliments the rest of the image. Another difference is that in the first image the clear close up of the flower means that the water droplets are completely visible and standout. However in the second image, the water droplets get a little lost again the white flower meaning they are harder to notice.

Connecting essay 2:
In the first image a girl is stood in the middle of a forest and looking directly into the camera. In this image the photographer has decided to style the model in a simple look so that there's a lot of the distraction taking away the simplicity of the image. The use of composition has made the image appear to look enchanting and the slight angle in the photo adds some of the photographers own personal touch. In the back the light it appearing through the trees which makes the middle of the image appear brighter and makes the top of the models head standout which immediately draws the attention to her when first looking at the image.
In both of the images the natural setting makes the models stand out more. In both the composition of the models allows for them to show a full length of what the model looks like. The main difference in the images is the brightness of the images. In the first image the darker setting makes the model stand out more, while in the second image, the lightness means the model blends in more. Also in the first image the light shinning through the trees allows for their to be a more specific light to focus on while this is lacking in the second photo.

In this image the lighting is a lot lighter and the light is not specifically focused on a certain point, the image lacks the use of something focusing the attention onto a certain point. In this image the model is not looking at the camera at all which allows the image to capture a natural pose as it occurs. In this image the frame is wider showing more of the background which makes the image less intense and to appear more relaxed and free.

Connecting essay 1
Connecting essay 1:
The first photo is of the London eye at a side angle. The use of composition is what makes this image effective. The use of the side angle enables a closer view of the pods of the eye, and well as showing the distance of the whole eye. The photographer has also included a lot of the sky in the photo, and has the sun seeping through the clouds. There is also use of the formal elements form and depth to help show a accurate representation of the eye and attempt to show the scale of the eye itself.

In the second image the London eye is photographed at an angle. The image includes a close up of one of the sides and helps to picture and idea of the scale of the eye. In this image there is the sky seeping through the clouds, which allows for one side of the image to appear brighter than the other. In this image it helps to create the use of depth in the image and demonstrates the use of form.
These two images both include the formal elements of depth and form, and help to demonstrate the structure of the London eye. The frame of the shot is wider in the second image than in the first, which allows the eye to appear in corner of the frame. The composition of the second image is different changing the way you view the image and the angle of the second image make the eye look a different size than it does in the first.
